Summary
The Merchandise Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day administrative functions within the buying office and provides support to the buying staff.
Responsibilities
-
Maintain appointment calendar (in buyer's absence)
-
Answer telephone calls: take messages and return calls in buyer's absence
-
Prepare store memos
-
Return samples to vendors/companies
-
Enter purchase order information into computer system
-
Assign SKU# to all styles
-
Communicate with stores and vendors on defective merchandise to be returned
-
Print out weekly buying reports
-
Email information to stores and vendors
-
Distribute mail and reports
-
Special letters
-
Compile all weekly and monthly inventories
-
Set up forms
-
Approve transfers
-
Cooperate with management and other buying staff associates

Assist team members and help in other areas as directed by supervisor or management
Qualifications
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications (Word, Excel, AS400, etc.)
-
Experience with office equipment (printer, calculator, etc.)

Must possess excellent written, verbal communication skills; good phone etiquette

Organization and time management skills

Consistency and reliability

Sitting for extended periods of time

Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
Required Experience

Microsoft Office-1 year experience preferred

Microsoft Excel-1 year experience preferred
Required Education

High School diploma or equivalent
